Annie Clover’s Curved Illusions 29, 30 from Virtual Quilter

Lots of quilting in the first design!

Lots of piecing in the second design.

Quilted Border Beauties 25, 26 from Virtual Quilter

Pretty and dainty.

Because I share my bed with my husband this is not the sort of design or colour combination I could use on our bed, but I can design as many of this style and colouring as I like.

I have never lived with an indoor cat but every so often one gets to admire my quilt designs.

Interesting.

Still very interesting with just a few changes.

A Whiter Shade on Gold Quilted 23, 24 from Virtual Quilter

I love leaving spaces in my designs which can be filled with quilting motifs. I also would outline the applique pieces in these designs.

The spaces left between the motifs and the applique in these designs could be filled with a background filler in a thread matching the background, leaving the motifs to stand out.

9 Patch ‘n’ Apps 7×7 27, 28 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting design, interesting colours, interesting applique, interesting pieced blocks, interesting quilting motifs. I like it!

The second design has all the interesting bits of the first, but I like the first one best.

Double Wedding Quilts 25, 26 from Virtual Quilter

At one point in my life I thought it would be a good idea to make a family heirloom wedding quilt … one which could be used by each newly married member of the family for a short time after the wedding. As it turned out I am glad I didn’t do it because I have heard of families where the extended families attended two weddings very close together and far apart so getting the quilt from one couple to another would have been difficult, even if the first couple had returned from their honeymoon.

I still like the idea ...

Kelly’s Custom Quilts 31, 32 from Virtual Quilter

Electric Quilt allows users to design their own layouts by using pieced blocks using squares and rectangles as the block layout. I spent about a week designing possible layouts as simple pieced blocks, just for fun, and most of them are still untried as quilt layouts.

At least today’s designs have used two of them!

Quilting Wholecloth 6×6 5, 6 from Virtual Quilter

Start with a blank canvas, or a plain quilt sandwich!

I prefer the first design, with the virtual border around the centre design.

Virtual Wholecloth Sirius 21, 22 from Virtual Quilter

I love it! Pity it couldn’t be made in a couple of hours!

Love the second design too!

Dear, Dear it’s Quilted 27, 28 from Virtual Quilter

Fifty three little applique blocks, plus lots of quilting, make a large quilt!

These designs were inspired by Dear Jane quilts, with lots and lots of little pieced blocks to make large quilts, but the blocks were all different designs. I thought it might be more interesting to make more of the each of the blocks so they could make a less scrappy looking quilt.

Lots more little blocks, all pieced this time, and still lots of room for quilting.

I love both of these even though they are very different.

Felicity Anderson Quilts 43, 44 from Virtual Quilter

I like these designs, but in close up detail the applique is just a little too detailed for anything but fused!

Love the second design.

Love the second design. Room for the quilting to shine.

So pretty in pink … maybe a little bit over the top, but I like it.

Almost over the top … needs some colour editing perhaps!

Abigail Bolton Design 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

This project file is now 1 day old, though many of the blocks were waiting for some attention.

About half of the blocks in the sampler above are new variations on the theme.

Love the design above, but will continue playing with the project from time to time as there are still blocks which haven’t found a place in a quilt design yet … not even a sampler.

Hearts Growing 5, 6 from Virtual Quilter

Hearts all over the quilt!

I am not sure if I like the space around the outside for quilting … perhaps I would be sure of it with different quilting. Another excuse to play with Electric Quilt … as if I need an excuse!

Autumn Daze Quilting 26, 27, 28 from Virtual Quilter

Autumn days are here, and today I hope to get my hands dirty while emptying some plant pots … I have to do some clearing of weeds first, but have made up my mind which plants to put where.

I like the design above, but I suspect that some weed seeds are looking at the spaces for quilting and thinking that they can grow there.

Third design is rather interesting, but I must leave the internet and go play in the dirt.

PS Well, I got my hands dirty, but I didn’t hit the publish button before I left the ...

A Whiter Shade on Gold Quilted 21, 22 from Virtual Quilter

I selected some pale fabrics with minimal contrast, and started playing. If I live long enough I will make at least one example of these designs.

The hardesst part will be selecting a design, not the fabrics. I cannot pick a favourite in today’s selection.

Selecting fabrics might take time, but will be fun, as I hope I will have to visit more than one shop! Perhaps I should limit myself to one fabric per shop!

Ann’s Album Q ‘n’ A 23, 24 from Virtual Quilter

I love playing ‘hide and Seek’ with sashing … to be able to make up designs like the one above just add sashing to blocks as usual, except that sometimes you use the background fabric of the blocks, but not all of them!

Love the second design.
